2018 SUP Cup Race Series

2018 SUP Cup Race SeriesJoin the fun and fast growing sport of stand up paddleboarding, showcased at each unique race location with short sprint & long distance races, fun races & relays, clinics, board demos, and lots of prizes up for grabs!!!

Plus just by participating in any of these events, you have the chance to win a Blue Planet Tour Tuf Tech board! Anyone can win!

Never raced before? No problem! All ages and skill levels are welcome. Each race will have different categories for men, women, and board lengths (14′ / 12’6″ and under).

PFDs and whistles are mandatory as per Transport Canada regulations. Most of the waist belt style PFDs have whistles inside with the vest. Double check to make sure you have one. Board leashes MUST be worn at all times during the race or you will be disqualified.

Entry Fees

Register for a single race or a combination of races. The choice is yours. The cost to enter each race is $25. Plus you will receive additional draw ballots for the grand prize draw!

  • Enter in one race and receive one draw ballot.
  • Two races gets you three draw ballots.
  • Three races gets you four draw ballots.
  • All four races gets you six draw ballots!

Cooks Creek SUP Race


Cooks Creek SUP Race
Date: Sunday, May 27th
Location: East Selkirk, MB

The Cooks Creek SUP Race is an open class race that twists up and down Cooks Creek. The race will begin at 11:00 AM from the boat launch in East Selkirk (East Selkirk Heritage Site) on May 27, 2018. Please arrive by 9:30 AM to sign in. This race has different categories for men, women, and board lengths (14′ / 12’6″ and under). Racers on 14′ boards will compete in a 7km distance race and boards 12’6″ and under will compete in a 4km distance.

The Cooks Creek SUP Race is part of the Central Canada SUP CUP Race series put on by The Hardwear Co, Hardcore Surf and Paddle Co, and Natri Bros. Great shops that support the sport of paddleboarding in their communities.

Coney Island Challenge


Coney Island Challenge SUP Derby
Date: Sunday, June 24th
Location: Kenora, ON

The Coney Island Challenge is a 7km open class race around Coney Island on Lake of the Woods. There are no board size requirements. The course run time is approximately 1 to 1.75 hours for the average paddler. Weather and wind can be a factor in times. Participants should be comfortable paddling for up to two hours in windy conditions. Men and Women ages 16 and up are welcome to participate. Participants can choose to paddle the full distance around Coney Island (approx. 7km) or a shorter 3km course. The race will begin at 11:00 AM from Norman Beach on June 24, 2018. Please arrive by 9:30 AM to sign in.

The Coney Challenge is part of the Central Canada SUP CUP Race series put on by The Hardwear Co, Hardcore Surf and Paddle Co, and Natri Bros. Great shops that support the sport of paddleboarding in their communities. Proceeds from the Coney Challenge will be donated to Kenora Association of Community Living.

SUPerior Challenge


SUPerior Challenge
Date: Sunday, July 15th
Location: Thunder Bay, ON

The SUPerior Challenge takes place along the shores of the Lake Superior, just outside of Thunder Bay. The races will begin at 11:00 AM from the Silver Harbour Conservation Area on Lake Superior on July 15, 2018. Please arrive by 9:30 AM to sign in. Racers will paddle around Mary Island. Racers on 14′ and 12’6″ boards will paddle 2 laps (approx. 7.5km). Boards under 12’6″ will paddle 1 lap (approx. 4km).

For anyone interested, there is an early morning/pre-race yoga session at 9:00 AM. Sign up begins at 8:30 AM the morning of the event. There is also a pre-party Saturday evening at Lake View Lodge, close to the event site. Following the race on Sunday afternoon, there will a possible downwinder sprint race and/or surf expression session if conditions are ideal.

Grand Beach SUP Cup


Grand Beach SUP Cup
Date: Saturday, August 11th
Location: Grand Beach, MB

The Grand Beach SUP Cup is a heart pounding 2km sprint style race with a beach start. In addition to the sprint race, there will also be a team Monster SUP fun race and a Kids short course. This race has different categories for men, women, and board lengths (14′ / 12’6″ and under). The races will begin at 11:00 AM from the beach in front of the Pavilion 2 H/C Surf shack at Grand Beach on August 11, 2018. Please arrive by 9:30 AM to sign in.
